Financial self-help support

There are basically two types of funding: On the one hand, there is flat-rate funding across all types of health insurance funds, which finances regular and self-help-related tasks. And on the other hand, individual health insurance project funding, which specifically supports projects if they are limited in time and content.

About the funding

Health-related self-help groups are supported by the statutory health insurance companies in Baden-Württemberg (Section 20h SGB V).

Here you will find the application form for the 2025 flat-rate funding, the information sheet and the proof of use of the funding received in 2024 as a PDF.

Applications and proof of use can be filled out electronically.

Proof of use for 2024

Your group took advantage of the flat-rate funding in 2024? Complete the proof of use for 2024 together with the 2025 flat-rate funding and send it in by March 31, 2025.

Options

Project Funding from Statutory Health Insurance Providers (GKV)

For specific projects or larger initiatives, e.g., major events or workshops, etc.

Support from Local Governments

Some local governments (cities, municipalities) support self-help groups as part of their voluntary services. However, there is generally no legal entitlement to such support. Please inquire at your local city hall.

Donation-based funding

Self-help groups can be funded through donations.

Please note: Donations are tax-deductible for the donor only if the self-help group is recognized as a nonprofit organization.

Typical Costs

When Starting a Self-Help Group

Room Rental

If group rooms in community centers, clubhouses, or other facilities are used, rental costs may apply. For the first three meetings, the Self-Help Office will provide rooms free of charge upon request.

Public Relations

Production of flyers, posters, business cards, etc., to promote the group.

Supplies

Writing materials, facilitation supplies, envelopes, postage costs, etc.

Drinks and Snacks

These can be organized and funded by the group itself during meetings.
